ABOUT NORC
University of Chicago Affiliation

NORC's Academic Research Center and its wider relationship with the University of Chicago are mutually beneficial in many ways.  Joint appointments provide benefits to both university faculty and NORC staff.  NORC provides university faculty with help in applying for and administering research grants, a collegial and supportive work environment for faculty, and on-the-job training for graduate students.  The University's Division of the Social Sciences is particularly prominent in this connection.

Additional benefit is derived from teaming agreements and more informal collaborations between NORC and other institutions affiliated with the University.  The most important for NORC's work are:

  • Center for Health and the Social Sciences (CHeSS)
  • Chapin Hall Center for Children
  • Irving B. Harris Graduate School for Public Policy Studies
  • Journal of Labor Economics (JOLE)
  • Pritzker School of Medicine
  • School of Social Service Administration
  • University of Chicago Medical Center
